As the owner of this franchise location, I find it odd that the original person who made this complaint has not responded to my reply from March 20, 2013, which asked for more information because I could not find any records of this customer.

As I mentioned in my reply then that it very well could be one of my competitors putting out false reviews to make my shop look bad.

As any business owner knows things like this happen all the time. Even the court systems have been seeing many lawsuits filed against false claims and/or reviews. If a business can prove to a judge that a claim is false, the court will send the websites owner a court order for records pertaining to the claim. This will include IP address and the owner of that address.

So if any of you are doing anything like this is prepared to go to court someday.

As far as my business, I have an A+ rating with the BBB. In the past 13 plus years in business, I can only remember something like 5 complaints filed to the BBB. Of the 5, 4 never responded back after receiving my detailed rebuttal to their claim. On 1 claim, we went to arbitration, which the person never showed up.

In all 5 claims, my business was never found to be at fault. Again, this is independent franchise location. Any customer that comes to our location has access to my personal e-mail address, which they can contact me at any time if a problem and/or concern arise while I am not there.

I am not saying that we are perfect, but my shop's policy is that if we made a mistake or a part failed within the warranty terms it will be repaired and/or corrected with no charge to our customer.

Thank you for your time.

Tony D. Owner of Brake Masters #167, located in Apache Junction Arizona.

Hi my name is Tony and I'm the Owner of this Brake Masters location. I just saw this post and spent the better part of an hour to find this customer in our computer and was unable to.

I even went through all our work orders for that month and still no luck.

I'm not sure if this post is about another location or a competitor. Please provide more information.

I do believe this person. When your company messes up a repair Brake Masters behaves like sociopaths denying and playing possum until one gets tired of your childish game.

Shame on You and on that corporate attitude that believes that customers are only good when Brake Masters is getting the better of them. Shame !

Brake Masters battery warranties

I was told I needed a new battery when I went to a Brake Masters to get a oil change on APRIL 9, 2012. It looks like I paid an additional "battery protection service" FOR $19.99. Maybe a few days later, the battery light came on when i was driving and i called that store manager, Torrence Hawke about it and he said to come in when its on. it always came on when i wasn't near their facility. On June 25th, 2012 I stopped at another Brake Masters regarding the battery light being on. He(Adam #1922) said my batteries positive cable was deteriorating. They replaced those for $19.00. On July 27th, 2012 my battery died in a parking lot 5 miles or so from the closest Brake Masters. I didn't realize all I had to do was call Brake Masters and they could tow me in. I went to Meineke Car Care Center as I was basically by their garage, They (John) told me my battery was drained and I needed a new one. I couldn't believe it cuz I thought I had gotten one the year before, and, I was wrong. Several people told me to go to the nearest Brake Masters and complain about the battery I purchased. Even tho I had the reciept they didn't believe me. They questioned why I didn't call them for help or use their warranty. I told them I didn't remember exactly who I got it from as I didn't carry shop repairs in my car. The manager(Adam) acted hostile and said I needed to get the original battery so they could do the check lists. I went and got it; they denied it was theirs. Monday I am filing a complaint with the owner.

Beware the Fluid and Tire Pressure Checks Claimed=False

Got an oil change in Albuquerque, NM (San Mateo NE store) and requested they use same product noted on window sticker (from last time I had it done with Brake Masters). Guy at counter mis-quoted me price for basic oil, even after he "verified" what was on the sticker, which was synthetic. Luckily I knew the cost coudl not be right. Aside from this however, what really ticked me off is they hand me a receipt claiming all these fluids were checked and tire pressure as well. I watched the whole transaction on my car from the lobby and not one fluid was checked not tires. I in fact discovered today that I'm totally out of windshield wiper fluid. The claim of the service is false. This is an oil change place ONLY - dont think you're getting some great deal.

Brakemasters installed struts and shocks. The car now has a worse ride then it did before I took it

I took my vehicle in to replace the front strust and the rear shocks. The vehicle now drives like a 30 year old car. I returned it to brake masters in El Paso Texas, on George Dieter and the manager said, and I quote"Just drive it around until the struts and shocks warm up and the ride will improve. They will also stop making the noise. The strust are still making a humming sound everytime I take the car out for a drive. The day I returned the car to have everything replace, this manager did everything he could to discourage me from leaving my car. He stated it would probably take a couple of days. I had already lost confidence in this company so I decided I didnt want to leave my vehicle with them.

Changed the oil in my 1999 Camaro

Took my car in for an oil change because of sign saying "Oil change $21.99. While job was being performed, I walked a short distance to Barnes and Noble. Came back & waited for my car. When job was completed, I went home. Next day, I noticed a detachable part to my keys had been removed. Called & spoke to George. He assured me he had never had a complaint about one of the technicians & said it must have fallen off in my purse as they sometimes slip off. I assured George there was no way this could have slipped off, no way. It's not made like that and someone had to have removed it. He reasured me it must have fallen off and I told him that was not possible. George told me to call back if he didn't call me by 3:00. He called before this time & let me know a technician had found it on the floor, didn't know what it was, threw it in the trash, looked inside the trash, found it & I could come & pick it up. On this key ring, where the detachable item was removed from, were a house key and a club key for my steering wheel. Went in to pick up the part. A big guy lifted up the side of the circle ring and showed me how a key can fall off it. Of course, it can fall off if someone pulls the pieces apart. But it doesn't accidently open. I felt so vilated. Now I have to replace the club as it's possible a copy was made. The technician also used 5w-30 oil in my old, sports car that has over 100,000 miles on it with temperatures soaring over 100 degrees in Phoenis, AZ. No, not a comment about me might wanting to use the 10w-30. I will never go to this place again. I've heard better lies from six year olds. Integrity is lacking.

The issue I had wasn't addressed in either comment. My Camaro wasn't stolen. Better comprehension of written material would be beneficial.

Guest

I've been to this location many times and have never had anything but top notch service from them. Also, I know George, he was the manager but last time I was in he no longer worked there so unless he has come back, or unless there is another George - he was not even employed there when you wrote this on May 14, 2012. I call BS.

Brake Masters in Chandler, AZ

I recently gave Brake Masters in Chandler, AZ another opportunity to replace my brakes on my 2005 Toyota Sienna. I'm not sure in hindsight why I did. A couple of years ago they replaced the brake drums on the rear and didn't assemble them correctly. We had immediate problems to which they said we just needed to break them in. I ended up taking it to the dealer who redid it and actually was quite surprised to find what they did in terms of incorrect assembly. The shoes wore out again so given the fact we had a lifetime guarantee on them from Brake Masters we decided to take it back and give them another chance. This time they were not ready for us at our 7:30AM appointment which should have been the first clue things were not going to go well. We left the veh there and before leaving the front-desk person said we had real problems and he'd call us later to let us know. This was before he even looked at the vehicle. That was clue number two. They later called to say we needed new master cylinder ..this... that.. etc. 1200 bucks was the estimate. We told them to put it back together and we'd pick it up which we did. I replaced them myself later that evening to the tune of 29.00 in parts from Auto Zone and my labor. During that process I noticed that Brake Masters had beat the heck out of one drum likely with a large sledge hammer I'm guessing trying to remove it. Had they just backed the drum off using the adjustment screw that would not have been necessary. They also damaged the dust backing with a pry bar. To top it off they didn't put all the parts back on it but were fine giving me the veh to drive home that way. So they're crooks, liers, and thieves. One burned shame on them.. twice shame on me. I won't be back .... ever .. and I'll make sure I spread the word.

Brake Masters Fiasco

My dad took his car to Brake Master @ Wymoing/Menaul in Albuquerque. They charged him $1200 for new spark plugs and to replace "plastic" cover under his hood. They put the wrong bolt back in and subsequently his car starting spewing gas all over the place from the injectors. He had to pull over and have the car towed. I am grateful that it did not catch fire or blow up from the gas and fumes every where. when they came ot tow it they told him that his fuel injectors were bad and they would have to replace them. In other words more $$$$$ BUT when they took it back to shop and actually looked at it, they discovered that they had used the wrong bolt????? He asked them to at least replace his tank of gas that he lost all over the road and the Manager "RAY" was RUDE as heck. I will NEVER recommend this place to anyone

Brake Master Rock's

Love Brake Masters on Scottsdale/Shea. My engine light came on. I went to the dealership for an estimate. They quoted me $450 for a job that was done at Break Master for $100 less. I was pleased with the workmanship and the customer service. I would recommend Brakemaster to people that do not want to be overcharged. With the economy it is hard to find car repair shops to do excellent work at fair and low cost. And they are fair and honest with pricing. Thanks again to all...... especially the Mechanic that worked on my car. You guys Rock :-)

@alonso - What a killjoy!

@Elarocker - I'm glad they did a good job for you.

I love my local Brake Masters. They are up front and honest.

Even when I thought I might have a much larger problem, they explained that the problem was much less severe and less $$. Good guys.

OMG are you kidding me it could have just been your windshield washer fluid low if you think 100$ for that ur got lots of $$. a honest company would do that for free. read my complaint unless you work for them in that case dont waste ur time

Brake Masters - Automotive Repair Review from Sacramento, California

This one of the worst company,s ever they hire people on magen,s law offender list, They now have him working in the roseville ca store and to top it off he is a long time friend of the store manager mark johnson his current boss, many other crimanal,s work in there other stores, they don,t drug test employees. there employee turn over is the worst I have ever seen. They spend more time in court with law suit,s for employee right,s violations, consumer affairs issues ect they bring you in on a quoit of 129.95 for front pads and machine rotors and then they rip you off by over charging you for rotors ect and only 90 day labor warranty shure they will give you a free set of pads that cost them 18.00 and charged you 100.00 for last time, under there warranty and make it up on other charge,s all in all you got screwed

I agree with Pulltype. The sex offender has to work somewhere. People deserve second chances.

Guest

Wow. This lady doesnt know whats she talking about..

she needs to get late hahaha. Also its about bussiness. You spec to get rotors for free. Of course other parts on a brke system wear overtime.

Dont spec that u will replace pads on a vehicle for the rest of ur life.. but of course if u have a problem they forget about all the other recomendatios that they were told about.

They suddenly forget .. about that and they ur are y talk bad about the company..

Guest

This sure sounds like a ex employee that is disgrunted for whatever reason and not a real consumer. By mentioning megan's law and it's list this person just became liable both by civil law and criminal law!

the site states to use it for harassment or to harm a person is against the laws.

strongly suggest this be removed , or this this web site could be liable too.

and since a name was mentioned, that person could sue too.

It is easy for a court to get the IP address of this person, so watch out.

Guest

Get rid of this bull. No facts provided and I am sure this post violates the employee rights, maybe they should look into the slander part of this.

Guest

Actually, I had to laugh at this complaint. This is not an educated person.

She has no knowledge of how to use the english language, can't spell, does not know how to use correct grammer. This is obviously someone who has a personal problem with this business but probably not a real problem.

Nancy A Eqg

This complaint constitutes a personal attack and should be removed immediately.

Seems like a good place for a sex offender to work. You would like them to be on welfare???

Brake Masters Kicks butt!!!!

I have been a customer at Brake Masters for years. I really love the service I get when I go there. The one I go to is in Tempe Arizona. I only talk to one guy there. His name is Cody. He is an amazing and incredibly honest employee. Whenever there is something more than just an oil change that needs to be done with my car he will tell me honestly, tell me when I should have it fixed and what it would cost me. He never tries to get me to buy that repair right then if it isn't warranted. He ALWAYS gives me options. He is so knowledgeable that I trust him and only speak to him when I go in. Especially considering that the other manager is not as friendly and definitely pushy. I am not sure what the mechanic's name is that actually does the work on my car, but he is a quite shorter guy. Looks like he may be Asian. He does an amazing job and I have never had any complaints. He gets my car in and out in remarkable time. Thank you Cody and Brake Masters!!!

Watch out for up selling even when you tell them NO.

Brake Masters opened here in Las Cruces, NM about 3 years ago. First few times I dealt with them it went well. The last two times I have gone I have had extra service add to the bill. The first with a transmission fluid and filter changes and was specific that I did not want a transmission flush. I had a flush added my bill when I went to pay. The next time I went in had a brake fluid flush add to bill when I did not authorize it. The last time I had $900 in recommended parts and service which they advised I needed, none of which was due for another 30,000 according to my owners manual. This is one regular cutomer who is moving on.

I pissed of due to the amount of money they charge replace the brakes, and to resurface the rotors. They charge me 400 for front and back brakes. In addition the manager commented to tip the worker 40 for his work cause he didn't go to lunch but yet again he was eating went I arrive later that day. I think that thbey should train the employees happy and not send them home empty handed, and unhappy. This shop is in fontana,ca don't bother going their. There are better places out there and cheaper. I feel *** for apying this much but my wife needed the car to take the kids to school. The manager claims that the. Brakes he added were about 150 but I checked the part number and they range at 49.99 what a ripe off I will never go there again even though the brakes are free for live.

I went into the Brake Masters in Suprise, AZ on 11-6-2010. Before arriving I called to get a quote, I was told 29.95 for oil change and 79.95 for brakes.

When arriving in the store I verified the prices again and told the service man that I had a coupon for 25.00 off a 100.00 or more purchase. He said that was fine and asked what I needed. I told him what I was quoted and he said no problem. When I got a phone call from Brake Masters they told me that I needed a number of other things needed to be done to my vehicle.

I said I only want the 79.95 brakes and the 29.95 oil change. They said no problem. When I went to pick up my vehicle they stated that the price was just under 200.00. No where and never was I quoted that price point.

I was expecting a bill under 85.00 plus tax. Chaz the "store manager" said that they never quoted me that price and that I can't have my vehicle back until I paid it, or that they could put my piece of *** parts back on the car and I could leave. He was yelling at me in front of a large group of customers. Once again I said this isn't what I was told.

I ended up having to sign under distress. I feel that he discriminated against me because I am a woman. When I left the store I was crying and my fiancé asked what was wrong. I explained the situation and he went into the store.

Chaz told him that we are from the East Coast and our business isn't welcome at that location. We are considered people from the other side of the tracks and that he never quoted me that price. My fiancé was right next to me when the price was quoted and I would have never went to that location for the amount they charged me. He kept saying we called Brakes Plus and we never called them the three stores we called for quotes were Firestone, Big O'Tires, and Brake Masters.

I wrote on the receipt signed under distress due to him threatening not to give me my car back. I have contacted the corporation and feel that the way that Brake Masters conducted a bait and switch method of marketing.

Brake Masters on Sunrise - Suspension Repair incomplete

I took my son's minivan in for repair of the front suspension bushings. When he drove the car home the van was making a clunking noise from the front suspension. We returned it to Brake Masters and they offered to fix it for $160. I declined the offer and took the van home for a personal inspection. I found that they had left the bushing and nut off the anti-sway bar, and wanted to charge me for the repair of their incomplete job. I purchased the part from Kragen Auto for $20 and repaired it myself. No more clunking and no more Brake Masters.
