Oil Change Review

Went in to take my mothers car to get an oil change and inspect ac on her 2020 Toyota corolla. Kirk Cleland the manager in the north Las Vegas Craig shop was rude because I asked about prices and acted as if I was asking for a hand out. I told him there was nothing nothing wrong with wanting to know the cost of the services. I was not rude, I simply stated a fact.

TYPICAL UPSELL ON UNNEEDED PARTS

Ben going to then Anthem Az. Brake Masters for years, went in today for a four wheel alignment because the guys did a great job in Dec . when they rebuilt the front end. after they got it in the air they called me to tell me that all 4 ball joints are bad and the typical scare tactic that my tie rod is going to fall off if I don't replace it. I told the new service manager that they had just replaced all of these items in Dec of 2013 6 months ago or so that they should not be worn out already as I only travel on the paved roads. I told them to get my truck backed out of the shop and I will never come back and am going to file a lot of complaints, auto shops have such a bad rap doing scheit like this, it is never ending they use to do good work but are now a bunch of crooks. I will never return and will not recommend Brake Masters to anyone ever again. what a bunch of lying thieves.

Deliberately caused medical injury to me even though informed of my medical condition

I went to Brake Masters for an oil change early in the morning when they had only a couple customers, and was told the oil change would take 20 minutes. I told them that was good, because I had just had a spinal fusion operation and was under medical restrictions to not stand or sit for longer than 30 minutes at most. Despite my clearly telling them of my medical condition, after the oil change they proceeded to tear apart my car looking for other things they could charge me for. Forty-five minutes after I had brought in my car, the receptionists brought in two filters from my car, saying that I needed to replace the cabin filter. I complained that my back was hurting badly, but I did not get my car back until over an hour after I had brought in the car. By then, I was crying in agony and shaking with the pain. It is a miracle that I managed to drive the car back to my house. I will not know if there is permanent damage to my back until I have X-rays done, but even if there is no permanent damage, this incident has totally incapacitated me and it will take days to recover my previous functional capacity. It is unethical for Brake Masters to deliberately and needlessly risk my health to make a few extra bucks.

Brake Masters - Car Service Review from Phoenix, Arizona

My daughter had her car serviced at Brake Masters on June 24th 2014. Her car had been over heating and the technician told her that her intake manifold gasket and thermostat needed to be replaced, costing 750.00... Four days later her car over heats again.. She took the car back in and now Brake Master is saying she needs a new radiator. My issue is Brake Master charged me a lot of money and the car still over heats and now they want more money..   I would NOT recommend Brake Master to my worse enemy.. Get second opinion don't believe the technicians

BRAKE MASTERS STRUT AND SHOCK SCAM

I took my son's 2011 HHR into Brake Masters at Coors and I-40 for a wheel balance problem. They said the vehicle needed Struts and shocks even though the car was practically new and had low mileage.

I went ahead and had them installed for over $800.00 (now I realize the car probably didn't need Struts). I then took the car to another place to have new tires installed. They asked what I paid for the Struts, i showed them the receipt and they informed me that I paid WAY TOO MUCH for the parts and labor. A month later, i took in my grandson's 2007 Saturn Ion into Brake Masters for an oil change.

They said it badly needed Struts and Shocks. I said, I thought I had already done that here a few months ago. They checked their computer and said no, only oil changes on their records. I knew that was not true so I declined to have them installed and just went with the oil change.

Then I went home and found the receipt for the Struts and Shocks that I had them install, Monroe parts (under lifetime parts warranty), only a year earlier for $811.42. I realized I was being SCAMMED by Brake Masters. I immediately took my receipts back to the Brake Masters shop. When I got there, I asked them to just give me the parts under warranty and I would install them myself.

They refused, saying it doesn't work that way. They have to install them and charge (overcharge) me for the install. Then I proved to them that the Struts were still in good shape and the car didn't need them so how could they say I needed to replace the Struts after only putting about 10,000 highway miles on them? Heck, the tires weren't even showing any strut-type wear.

The manager went with me outside to the car where I proved to him the car did not need Struts. The Brake Masters store #196 at I-40 and Coors Blvd. is running a Strut and Shock scam on it's customers. It used to be a reputable location to service your car but now, under it's current management, they are obviously scamming their customers and my receipts prove it.

They call it their Shocktober special in October, Shocknovember and ShockDecember, etc. They will tell you that you will get $100.00 back from a rebate from Monroe but when you read the Monroe rebate, it only for one of the cheapest items which will usually be the cost of a shock for most cars so you're lucky to get $50.00 back. AVOID THIS BRAKE MASTERS LOCATON AT I-40 AND COORS BLVD.!!! If they will scam people for struts, they likely will for other items as well.

There are plenty of reputable auto repair business in Albuquerque. Consider yourself warned.

AVOID this BRAKE MASTERS at I-40 and Coors Blvd., if not all of them!

Lies lies lies

We took our car in for power steering pump replacement. They told us it wouldtake 2.5 hours and 3 hours later they call and tell us they need to keep it overnite. We said no you cant and why tell us just as you're closing. So they tell us to pick up the car a d pay for the labor because they have to put it bk together. Well if u can put it bk together then why cant u replace the part while you're at it. BUT APPARENTLY ITS OUR FAULT FOR NOT TELLING THEM WE NEED OUR CAR EVEN THOUGH THEY TOLD US IT WOULD BE DONE IN 2 AND A HALF HOURS!!!!!!!!!!!!! THEY SUCK!!!!!!!!!

Poor customer service

Took my chevy pick-up in for a basic oil change @ 7:32am, was told they're just getting started, will be just a few min.(I came at this time most over the years)I waited for almost an hour& 15min. and seen a couple of people come in after me already had thier vehicles pulled in. the intire time I was there, I only saw 1 customer leave with job complete, and they were back for something in about 15 min. I couldn't wait any longer and asked for my keys back, at that time I was told I was next! Maybe I would have stayed if had been given an update earlier. About a month earlier had taken my 99 corvette just to check the a/c system for proper operation as I just had it a couple of months. I was told it would be at least a couple of hours cause he only had 1 tech. I tried back the next day (Satuarday)at 7:35am and was told the same thing and that it would be better just to leave my (prestine)vehicle with them and they would contact me when they're done! Were they kidding? I knew better than that, as i took my 85 vette in for an oil change last year(I never took again)and they were taking kind of long, so I looked out and my car was parked in a different place, I thought maybe it was done but it hadn't been in yet. I was finaly complete and they didn't even do the courtesy and drive it up(which was fine) but as I walked up to my car I noticed shreds of plastic coming off the air deflector under the front of the car! First thing that came to mind is someone took my car for a little ride and bottomed it out! After all this I still tried to give them another chance, but I think today this place has gone to the dogs!!!

Another Person ripped off by Brake Masters in mesa AZ

Brake Master in Mesa Az On southern ave by superstition springs mall STAY AWAY The manager there is a complete *** and is a smart mouth. I went there on june 14th to get an alignment one of the guys told me that my vehicle needed tie rod ends but he would align it the best he could but couldnt warranty it but if i got the tie rods done in 90 days the he would align it again n warranty it so i had the tie rods done in just a couple days took it back and the manager had it realigned but he didnt warranty it, Well my vehicle didnt need the tie rods done there was nothing wrong with them. So after the 2nd alignment my vehicle was worse. It was so bad i was afraid to drive it. It was then taken to another shop where the owner grabbed the wheel and it was so loose im lucky i didnt hurt myself or someone else. Come to find out it was my bearings n never anything more. I had to have it replaced n another alignment. I went back to Brake masters that day and explained what the problem was the manager tried telling us that when I left the last time that there was nothing wrong with my vehicle except an alignment issue. I told him and i showed him all the paperwork from the other shop. He stood there and instead of trying to help and give me the money back for ripping me off he got *** about it and said oh you could of brought it back after you had the last work done and we would of alinged it again its not that easy my vehicle would of never made it to that shop so i had no choice, So when asked for the corperate number he got smart about it and didnt want to give it to us. He finally did and his words were GOOD LUCKY WITH THAT as we walked out the door, What kind of place has a manager like that ? He never told me anything was wrong except for tie rods that were not bad at all. Is this how you people run your business?

Attempted Rip Off at Brake Masters in Scottsdale

I went into Brake Masters on 10620 N. Scottsdale Road, Scottsdale, AZ on August 6th, 2013 with my brakes grinding. I was given a complimentary ride to work. After the salesman, Shea, had my 2003 Pontiac Aztek looked at he called with the news of what repairs were needed. I expected to hear that I needed new brakes & rotors. But then Shea proceeded to explain that left front hub bearing had allot of play & needed replacing, as well as the bushings in the control arms were supposedly almost completely separated. This is what I needed to make my car safe. My approx. $300 brake job was now $1400.00!

Thank goodness my boyfriend suggested a second opinion. I had my car towed to another repair shop. They agreed that I needed new brakes & rotors, BUT they said the left front hub bearing had very little play, and was normal. Also, the arm bushings were worn, but have allot of life & had normal wear.

I am aghast that there are repair shops that prey on female customers that are unfamiliar with car mechanics. I have been to other locations of Brake Masters before with this vehicle, but have never been treated this way. These “add-ons” were to the tune of over $1000.00 in additional cost to me, and they were not required to be done at this time.

I will NEVER return to Brake Masters for repairs again, and will dissuade others from going there, especially that location.

My final bill for the brake & rotor replacement with new brake fluid was only $345.01 (considering that the Brake Masters was going to charge me $309.80 for the same brakes, rotor & fluid replacement...that includes the FREE lifetime brake warranty of which $71.95 was subtracted from the total)

Attempted to be Ripped off . By Brake Masters

My wife and 17 daughter brought our 2008 Mazda 3 because there was a grumbling sound in the front. Break Masters# 209 in Chandler AZ told my wife that we needed new axels and it was extremely dangerous to drive. My wife met me at the Mazda dealer and they pointed out that AT&T the lug nuts were lose on the front right tire. They then did a full inspection and told us there was nothing wrong other then the lose lug nuts. I called brake masters and told them what I found. The manager was very short with me and told me that they didn't know what they were talking about. I then had for my own reassurance another mechanic look at it and he assured me the vehicle was not in need of new axels and was safe for my daughter to drive. I am really pissed off. Shame on you Brake Masters! I also have 2 estimates one from brake masters for 400 and one a few hours later from Mazda stating vehicle was not in need of repair.

This is the first time I have read Brake Masters Comments and Complaints site and feel very sorry for the people treated poorly at other stores than the SR528 & Coors Rd store in ABQ, New Mexico. From the time the dealership tried to rip me off and I was told about Brake Masters, I haven't been anywhere else.

You will find a large amount of females going there as word of mouth tells how woman are treated as intelligent individuals and not taken advantage of. Most inspections to determine if there is and what the problem might be are not charged for. I and a lot of other people are extremely satisfied.

I know this just from listening to other customers talk while we are waiting for our cars.

I wish the nay sayers would find a store they can be happy with like I am.

Service, Quotes and Reviews

I know that the website is called "Pissed Consumer" and everyone is here looking for some *spoon* talking, but I feel the need to help balance the scales and give people an honest report to help them decide what is best for their own situation. First off, yes I am really a customer and not a "shill" or employee or anything. I just feel that people generally only post a "review" when they have bad service, or think they had bad service, or even when they just basically have a bad attitude anyway and look for problems (or are causing bad service by having a selfish bad attitude which results in them becoming a negativity magnet). My experience at Brake Masters was initiated with a phone call and a quote based on the information I provided, which in all honestly was not really telling the full extent of how bad my brakes really had become. When I went in for the actual inspection and official quote, I was surprised to find the staff to be understanding and attentive, ultimately offering an unprecedented level of service and an honest, straightforward assessment of the reality of my situation. Yes, I wound up paying more than the initial quote on the phone - quite a bit more in my case - but that was because there was a lot more wrong with my 18 year old truck than I had reported on the call. And even if I had given a more thorough report, the repairs that I needed were atypical and would have needed attention anyway. Brake Masters walked me in to see what needed to be done, and was articulate as to why I should do the extra work, showing me all of the damage and making sure I understood the severity and consequences I would face if I were to skimp out - not to mention the safety concerns involved. So please consider the fact that most people who get good or even exceptional service don't think twice about it and rarely make their experience known, while those who have - or think they have had - a bad experience will go to the ends of the Earth to tell the world how they have been taken for a ride. Yes I know there are many legitimate cases for writing about poor service and even times when a customer will be thoroughly ripped off, and I am glad this site offers a voice for those times. This, however is not one. I recommend Brake Masters on Eubank in Albuquerque New Mexico. The operator/customer service rep was as helpful as I could have ever hoped for, and was more than sufficiently concerned about both the cost/value/necessity of my repairs and my personal safety.

Blatant Liars!

They advertise to be Bendex Brake Installers. Over 60% of the cars that leave the Kingman, AZ store leave with the cheapest line of Autozone or O'Reilly's brake pads and you are still charged more than 3 times the cost if you bought them over the counter. Then once the brake pedal starts to vibrate from the cheap pads, they claim that you "warped" your rotors and for only half of the cost, they will replace them... In most cases they charge for for a simple brake job than the car is valued at. It's always the customers fault and they NEVER honor the warranty. DON'T GO Here or any other Brake DISSASTER location!

Went to brake masters today in Albuquerque New Mexico, horrible experience. They wouldn't rotate my tires because they said I didn't need it, but it was on the invoice.

I've been to three different brake masters, they all suck! They're all liars!

Products Suck, Wont get reimbursed

I to replace 2 c/v boot outter on left/right sides on 05-13-2011 with only 93928 miles on my van. They guy who replaced the 2 outter boots said they would last 20000-4**** miles. on 2-28-12 with mileage only 108000 the 2 outter c/v boots are cracked and torn. I took my Van over to another Shop due to Brake Masters *** Products. I called Brake Master where the repair was made and they wont reimburse me do to it being over 1 year. I called the Customer Service line at 180******** and they will not do anything about it either. I told Brake Masters that I will give them there *** C/V boots back. They said that they can not reuse them if they are cracked. With a Technician saying certain mileage until parts go bad, shouldnt the shop promise to reimburse things to keep customers? Since they will not reimburse me or give me store credit, I will be happy to go to another shop and tell friends, family, co-workers, everyone to not Support Brake Masters *** Services.
